When you use the MealSlash mobile app, we may collect the following information: (a) Location Data — with your permission, we access your device's location to show nearby food deals, happy hours, and restaurant specials. Location data is used solely to find deals near you and is not stored on our servers or shared with third parties. You can revoke location access at any time through your device settings. (b) Device Information — we may collect device type, operating system version, and a unique device identifier for analytics and app performance purposes. (c) Usage Data — we collect information about how you interact with the app, such as deals viewed and filters used, to improve the experience. We do not access your contacts, camera, microphone, photos, or any other device sensors beyond location.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve our services, to process your transactions, and to communicate with you. This includes sending order confirmations, delivery updates, and customer support messages. On the mobile app, we use your location to display relevant nearby deals and restaurant information. If you've opted in to SMS communications, we may also send you promotional offers, discounts, and service updates via text message. For users who have opted in to SMS notifications, we may send abandoned cart reminders when you've added items to your cart but haven't completed your purchase.
4. SMS Communications and Opt-In
When you provide your phone number and opt-in to SMS communications, you consent to receive text messages from us about your orders, account, promotional offers, and abandoned cart reminders. Message frequency varies based on your activity. Standard message and data rates may apply. You can opt-out at any time by replying STOP to any message, updating your preferences in your account settings, or contacting our support team. Opting out of SMS communications will not affect your ability to use our service or receive order-related communications through other channels. Your SMS opt-in data and consent information is stored securely and is only used for the purposes of sending you the messages you've consented to receive.
5. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as payment processing, SMS delivery, authentication (Apple Sign In, Google Sign In), and data analysis. MealSlash uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to track activity on our website and to hold certain information. Cookies are files with a small amount of data which may include an anonymous unique identifier. We use cookies to understand and save user preferences, keep track of items in your shopping cart, and gather analytical data about site usage. The MealSlash mobile app uses local storage (AsyncStorage) to save minimal preferences such as deal view counts. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent, but this may affect your ability to use certain features of our service.
7. Third-Party Services
The MealSlash app and website integrate with third-party services including Supabase (authentication and user data), Apple and Google (sign-in), and mapping services (Apple Maps, Google Maps) for directions. These services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them. Restaurant deal information displayed in the app is sourced from publicly available data and third-party data providers.
8. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the security of your personal information, including encryption of sensitive data and secure server infrastructure. However, please note that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We regularly review and update our security practices to enhance protection of your information.

You may also have the right to restrict or object to certain processing of your data, including SMS communications and location data collection. To exercise these rights, please update your preferences in your account or device settings, or contact us directly. You can delete your account and all associated data by contacting us at privacy@mealslash.com. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe in accordance with applicable laws.

MealSlash is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this privacy policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
